Dear First Grade Families,

I look forward to working with your child in the fall.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me either by leaving a message for me at school or by e-mail.  (sta2miller@yahoo.com)

I have a web page that some of the current second grade families found useful.  I will update it for the incoming second graders in July.  (http://www.homestead.com/millergrade2)

I'll send home summer reading calendars with the first graders.  All children are expected to return the calendar to school in September in addition to the 3 summer book reports that Mrs. Follis has requested.  If the calendar or book report forms get lost, additional copies are available online at the web address listed above.

Reading to an adult, reading alone or listening to someone else read should be occurring on a daily basis; everyone knows that you can only learn to read and maintain skills if you practice, practice, practice.  I can make additional book suggestions if anyone would like some.

Practicing math facts over the summer is highly recommended and will help make the transition to second grade an easier one in the fall.  Any child who wants to write a story or keep a journal is welcome to share in September!

                                Enjoy your summer,

                                Miss Miller
